This is a later example of Chantrey’s drawing made with the camera lucida, showing how he developed his draughtsmanship. Russell visited Chantrey’s studio six times and described sittings as ‘a treat’ because Chantrey had ‘both seen and heard much to be remembered’ during his long career.
