Marchand was included in the second Post-Impressionist exhibition but did not meet Fry until 1919. In 1920 they painted together at Vence. Marchand was one of a number of younger French artists promoted in England by Roger Fry and purchased by collectors such as Sir Michael Sadler and Frank Hindley Smith.
